CARAT WEIGHT

Worldwide, the jewelry industry uses the metric carat (cts.) as the agreed-upon unit of measurement for gem weight. In other words Carat weight, will give you an idea of how big is a gem.
One carat equals 0.200 grams or 1/5 of a gram.
Large emeralds, which are rare, increase in price faster than diamonds. As emerald weight doubles price often quadruples. Eye-clean emeralds over three carats with good color command premium prices, often higher than comparable diamonds.
